Where is Myrtle Beach?
Directly on the South Carolina Atlantic coast, some thirty miles south of the North/South Carolina border, right at the heart of the 60-mile stretch of golden sands known as the "Grand Strand,". Myrtle Beach is the city with the most recognizable name, but the resort area stretches from Georgetown in the south, through Pawleys Island, Litchfield Beach, Murrells Inlet, Garden City, Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach, Little River, then crosses into North Carolina and includes Calabash and the coastal areas of Brunswick County.
What Are Some Activities to do after the Golf Day is Over?
Once the day’s last putt has been made and the clubs retired to the trunk, the fun of a Myrtle Beach golf trip is far from over. The Grand Strand is home to more than 1,500 restaurants that specialize in everything from soul food and sushi to steak. Every chain restaurant of significance has a presence in the area, but Myrtle Beach dining is made unique by its native fare. Calabash seafood, a nationally recognized brand, was born in the area, and South Carolina’s distinctive Lowcountry cuisine is a must-eat. The Grand Strand’s culinary contributions shouldn’t be minimized but its nightlife is legendary. Unlike some competing destinations, where businesses shudder with the setting sun, Myrtle Beach golf is complemented by its ample off-course activities. Whether you are looking for a quick post-round drink or a long night of partying, the area has it all. Dancing, live music, a great place to watch a game, or a cigar bar, visitors don’t lack for options. “Twelve people come in our group, and we have just about as many different interests off the course, but everyone has a great time,” said Mike Ritter, a Winchester, Va., resident who has taken a Myrtle Beach golf trip the last five years. “If you can’t have a good time here, you aren’t trying.” But Myrtle Beach is more than a party off the course. Shopping – ranging from high-end boutiques to golf superstores – has become a draw for the area. The Grand Strand also offers premier deep sea fishing (yes, you can catch your dinner), and Brookgreen Gardens is the nation’s finest outdoor sculpture garden, bringing a touch of culture to a boys weekend. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, play at BB&T Coastal Field, and it’s located directly across the street from Broadway at the Beach, the area’s premier shopping, dining and nightlife complex. The list goes on but you get the point. Myrtle Beach is equal parts GolfTown, USA and Good Times, USA.
Where is the Village At The Glens located?

What is the weather like in Myrtle Beach?
How did the Myrtle Beach area get started?
Families began to visit Myrtle Beach more than a century ago. Myrtle Beach was sparsely populated until 1908, when a railroad was built between Conway and Myrtle Beach. The railroad ended in 1899 in the locale of Pine Island, and was extended four miles into the future city. The Pavilion, as well as the Seaside Inn, were built in today's downtown. The natural beauty of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has always enticed visitors Throughout the 1930s, the city grew to include areas as far north as present-day Ocean Forest. The Ocean Forest Hotel was built about this time (which was demolished in 1974). The Intracoastal Waterway began construction several years later. Almost a year later, the city was incorporated as a town in 1938 and became a city in 1957. Its name was derived from the wax myrtle shrub that grows throughout the area. In the 1960s, northern development in what was unincorporated Horry County began to develop, with the newly formed communities of North Myrtle Beach and Briarcliffe Acres. Myrtle Beach continued to grow, and by the 1970s, had become well associated with tourism. Parts of what is now US 17 Bypass were built later in the decade. The building boom along the Grand Strand began in the late 1970s, with many suburbs of Myrtle Beach such as Surfside Beach and North Myrtle Beach. The areas surrounding Myrtle Beach continue to thrive and grow as more families are relocating to the area from the Midwest and Northeast. Areas just south of Myrtle Beach, like Pawley's Island and Murrell's Inlet, have interesting histories to themselves; far different than that of Myrtle Beach. These communities for centuries were known for their fishing boats and large fishing industry. These areas are historically known to have been favorite hideaways for pirates, including Black Beard himself, but have flourished into successful communities for residents and tourists alike.
What is a Golf Package?
Developed right here in Myrtle Beach, a "Golf Package" is a trouble-free way to schedule a golf vacation for your group. All you need do is let The Village at the Glens reservations staff know your arrival and departure dates, and the courses you'd like to play (and if you aren't familiar with the courses, he or she will offer sound suggestions). Your schedule, with specific tee times, will then be confirmed, and sent to you. The pre-set per person charge generally covers accommodations, breakfast, and golf.
What is the difference between "Am", "Pm", "Midweek", and "Multi" golf rates at the Glens Group courses?
Most courses in the Myrtle Beach area offer three different types of rates, or prices to play. The "AM" rate is considered any tee time booked before 12:00 Noon. The "PM" rate is considered any tee time booked for after the 12:00 Noon time. A "MIDWEEK" rate is any tee time booked for any time on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. With the Glens, we also offer a "MULTI" rate, which is a discounted rate for playing two or more of our four courses.
How far in advance can tee times be booked for, and what are the benefits of booking early?
Most courses keep their tee sheets open 1 year in advance. As the rates change periodically in Myrtle Beach, the dates vary by a day or two each year. The benefit of booking early is that with a limited number of morning tee times at a course (some courses that double tee only offer 32 tee times each morning), the best times go quickly. If you book early you have the luxury of not sweating it out at the end for the courses you really want to play.
What is the cancellation policy on a golf package?
OUR CANCELLATION POLICY IS AS FOLLOWS: 30-Days or more there will be a $25.00 per person cancellation fee, all other money returned. Less than 30-Days there will be a $125.00pp cancellation fee, all other money returned. Less than 3-Days there will be no refund.
What are cart fees?
Cart fees are a required portion of your Myrtle Beach golf round. All courses booked by the Glens Golf Vacations require use of a golf cart. This cost is a per person fee, that is included in all prices you post and quote. The fee varies by course, in the range of $22-$26.00, depending on your selection.
What is a double tee?
When a course "double tees," it simply means that the course is teeing groups off the front and back nines at the same time. For example, at 8:15 AM, a group would tee off hole #1 and hole #10. Most courses run this system during busy times of the year. If the first tee time of the morning is at 7:00 AM, then the course will double tee until 9:00-9:30 AM. At that time, the course must allow enough time for all of the morning groups to make the turn, before teeing groups off for the afternoon. This is why pace of play is so important to the course staff, as a slow group can affect an entire afternoon's worth of golfers. This is the reason that groups who are looking for mid-morning tee times, are often unsuccessful. The golf course can double the number of players in can play in the morning, at the most desirable tee times.
What is the dress code for golf courses in Myrtle Beach?
Most courses in Myrtle Beach follow the same guidelines when it comes to attire. They will require a shirt with collar, or mock-style, and pants. Courses will allow shorts, but they must be of proper length. Tank tops, Tshirts, jeans, and clothes with holes are not acceptable. Courses also prohibit the use of metal spikes on shoes, but tennis shoes are acceptable.
