Mike Passmore – PGA Professional and Golf Academy Director
Following a national talent search in 2007, Mike Passmore joined The Glens Golf Group as Director and head teaching professional of the golf academy at Possum Trot Golf Club.
Charged with providing the very best golf lesson experience for golfers of all ages, abilities and skill levels, Mike brought a 22-year award winning teaching background to Myrtle Beach and developed the Simply Great Golf Approach, which has been recognized as the guaranteed simplest, most effective concept for both learning the game of and playing golf.
Mike’s teaching accomplishments include:
- 2006 Top 6 Teacher in the US – PGA of America
- 3-Time PGA Section Teacher of the Year
- 2006 Indiana PGA Teacher of the Year

Tom Varinecz, SGG Certified Instructor
Tom Varinecz is a graduate of the Simply Great Golf Instructor Training Program and has worked as Mike Passmore’s assistant since March 2007. Tom conducts satisfaction guaranteed golf lessons in both private and group formats for the Simply Great Golf Academy and works as both a lead and assistant instructor.
Larry Gillespie, SGG Academy Coordinator
Larry Gillespie manages the Possum Trot practice facility and is the man our instructors rely on to ensure an organized learning environment and smooth operation overall.
